Sponsor Miss Kyndt for Sunday's London Marathon

If you want to get fully involved in supporting the London Marathon this Sunday, and want to sponsor a runner, can I recommend Miss Kyndt.
Go here to donate to Claire.

Claire will also be running in the Uganda Marathon in June, our main King's Ely Junior fund raising choice.

Uganda Marathon

In June 2018, four King's Ely teachers - Alison Stewart, Richard Oliver, Amanda Kippax and TOP GEOGRAPHER Claire Kyndt - will be taking on the Uganda Marathon - An Adventure Like No Other with the support of some of their family members.
The challenge will see them taking part in a variety of volunteering projects and activities in Uganda, culminating in either a full or half marathon in Masaka.
Proceeds from their fundraising efforts will be split equally between the Uganda Marathon projects and Mengo Hospital in the capital, Kampala.
A whole host of activities will be planned between now and June to help the King's Ely team raise as much money as possible and, as you can see from this video, the charities are extremely grateful for our support!

UNICEF

Thanks to our visitor from UNICEF for visiting our KEJ assembly this week and collecting the cheque for the £13,866 that we raised last year, and which the government will match-fund for even greater impact. She explained some of the projects that we might be able to fund to change the lives of young people.

Water Aid

We had an assembly in the Junior school with Mr. Prosser from WaterAid this week, and he spoke about why water was so important, and how the charity which we are supporting this year across the school is helping people with water supply, education and sanitation.

He mentioned the importance of sanitation

Water Aid: World Toilet Day from Indy8 on Vimeo.

We use a lot of water every day, and hopefully we can raise money to help people have better access to safe drinking water.

There were also some chances for groups in the Senior school to work on the theme of water.

Lots of spots in school today for Children in Need...

Here are some resources on the Children in Need appeal and what the money is spent on from the Children in Need website.

Plenty of social media coverage.

I'm going to see how many times I can fit the words 'children in need' into my teaching today... e.g. lesson on the issues with rural to urban migration should provide some opportunities...
