1. Reunion Risk – complete the advice to Mrs. Oldham, and the overall risk assessment for the island. This needs to have some links to news stories of recent events: shark attack, cyclone, volcanic activity etc. and be specific

Second half of lesson
2. Haiti Earthquake – We started to explore the question ‘Why did so many people die in the Haiti Earthquake?’
Start to create some notes which will become an extended piece of writing.
Some headings for notes:
Location Details of the Earthquake
Social factors – quality of life, standard of housing
Economic factors – ability to cope, infrastructure
Physical factors – plate boundaries
Health issues – cholera outbreak

Be careful to consider stereotyping, slant in news reporting, and aim for a nuanced view rather than bipolar - rich/poor etc. descriptions.
