All now published... and here are some of my author copies.

Pleased to say these are now taking me into my 30s in terms of books published that I had a part in.

 Another one is already due out later in the year - one has been delayed - and I'm now working on 9 more.

Latest book

Editor copies of my latest book project project - my 32nd book that I've been involved with - written by Becky Kitchen of the GA arrived this week. 

They accompany the Student Book for iGCSE in the same series, and a Teacher Guide will be arriving shortly.

iGCSE Geography - 4th edition textbook now available to order

A project that I've been involved in for over a year will finally see the light of day soon and the first of the three books has just become available and ready for ordering from the Collins website.

It's the 4th edition of a textbook for the newly updated iGCSE Geography specification. 

I was involved with the first edition while working for the Geographical Association.

Along with this student book - the 4th edition, written for the new Cambridge iGCSE Geography specification, there is also a Teacher's Guide, which contains lesson plans and extra resources, plus answers for all the questions in the book.

There is also a Workbook which has been written by Becky Kitchen. This contains extra work on iGCSE Skills along with exam style questions and other activities.

These other two books will be out in April.

I'm proud to have worked as a Series Editor on the three books in the series.

1953 East Coast flooding - a new resource

 A new resource I've written.

This got slightly delayed by other factors, but is now available ahead of next week's anniversary and commemorations which will take place along the coasts which were affected. I know there is a service and exhibition in both Snettisham and Hunstanton and aim to visit them this weekend, and then locations further round to the south of Norfolk and the Broads.

The Environment Agency - one of the GA's strategic partners - published a useful image of the flood defences as they were back in 1953 on a Pinterest board and it is shown below.

I shall be out and about along the coast this coming weekend in a number of locations and will share some pictures in a Flickr album which I will share here.

I know there are permanent memorials in Hunstanton and Snettisham, and a search revealed one in Harwich. I would imagine there are others and would love to hear about them or see pictures of them if you know of one.

A lovely review of 'Why Study Geography?'

I'm grateful to Thomas Larsen for this really wonderful review of my book, which was published in the US in the 'Geography Journal'. If you are quick, this link will take you to a free PDF download of the whole review - although it can be read on this page too. I am really delighted that Thomas has really 'got' what I was aiming at when writing the book.

Mission:Explore National Parks

Out soon in English and Welsh, the latest of the Explorer HQ books under the Mission:Explore name. Year 7 will remember the Food book that formed their prep this term.
This is Mission:Explore National Parks, and involves the usual shenanigans of creative ideas for kids of all ages.
The books will be available for £5 from all National Park shops in England, Scotland and Wales. Here's a pile fresh back from the printers.

As always it's been wrangled by the Explorer HQ team, which includes Mr. Parkinson. Queen Philippa were also involved in helping choose the missions that made it into the book during a house assembly earlier in the year.
