Summer post 4: Globalised Tour de France
Two weeks into the Tour de France, and the French are doing very well this year. However, we explored how globalised the race has become.
Now National Geographic have created this excellent interactive which shows just how much more Globalised the race has become over time.

Tour de France 2014
We mentioned the Tour de France as one of our global sporting events that was taking place over the summer.
I hope some King's students and staff will be heading for Cambridge, or places further south, to watch the stage of the Tour de France on Monday. I know that some of you have also been in Yorkshire to see it.
Two merits to kick off the year for anyone who sends me a photo from the tour over the next few days via my school email, especially ones which show how globalised the event is.

Year 8 Revision Support 3: Globalisation...
This summer sees a range of Global sporting events, including the World Cup and the Tour de France, which starts in Yorkshire, then moves down to Cambridge for a stage which sees the riders heading for London. This will be the first weekend of our summer holiday...
What makes a sporting event GLOBAL ?
We explored some of the ideas this week, and here's the start of a mind-map for the Tour de France.
What other global links and connections can you make ?
Think brands, ideas, goods, services, migration etc...
You now have your Year 8 revision notes too... if there is anything you're not sure about, find me next week....

Tour de France
In the Summer term, we may well look at the Tour de France and the impact on the local area. A stage of the Tour starts from Cambridge in the weekend after we finish for the summer break, and I expect quite a few staff, students and parents from King's Ely will be watching as the cyclists move through the area.A new app from the Ordnance Survey has now been launched.
Saddle up...
