Carlisle (and elsewhere) floods

The last weekend saw some extreme weather affecting large parts of the NW.


Year 10 students should be following the events, and the further flooding that has affected Glenridding since.


  • What factors led to the flooding?
  • Why was it so bad?
  • How can there be events with return periods in the hundreds of years so close together?
  • What are the physical and human influences on the catchment area?


It's worth following some of the media and also social media, including local BBC Radio stations which have been exploring the wider impacts.
