Bypass... a step nearer...

Many students and staff travelling to school in the morning will be familiar with the congestion that is caused by the level crossing at Ely railway station, and the tunnel beneath the tracks.
There have been plans for some time to build a southern bypass, and these have been blogged here before as a potential to be a geographical issue.

The Ely Standard is reporting the results of a public consultation today, which says that the  majority of the 1700 people who responded to the scheme were in favour of a scheme to divert traffic away from this bottleneck....

There are some who worry about the potential impact on the environment in the area, and also the visual impact on one of the most impressive views in the UK: the view of Ely Cathedral from Stuntney...
