More on Antarctica

Remember that there are new resources coming out all the time, and this set of materials has come just as we finish our look at Antarctica, but we'll remember them for next year.

After the Tim Jarvis expedition which retraced Shackleton and Worsley's journey on the James Caird and across South Georgia, there is another expedition now underway.
An expedition is underway to recreate an ill-fated expedition of 1911-13 by Douglas Mawson. The ship is retracing the route of the 'Aurora': Mawson's ship, to see how the area has fared in the last century. At the time of posting, the ship is in the first week of its trip to Antarctica, and there are various reports on the website linked to above.

The Guardian Teacher Network has created a set of materials, including an engaging interactive, which would make useful viewing for Year 8s preparing for the examination.
